On the course Baker & Confectionist — Brussels & Paris you get to dive into craft behind yeast baking, cakes, marzipan and chocolate — and combine it with experiences in Europe's most culinary cities. You get hands-on tuition, travel to both Brussels and Paris, and learn techniques you can use for the rest of your life.

What do you get?
Cakes in all variations
From cookies to party cakes and showstopper cakes that impresses — you learn creative and technical skills in decoration and taste. Through projects, you are given responsibility for the entire production and see your results served at school events.
Choose two courses
Remember that at Karmøy Folkehøgskule you choose two courses throughout the year, and this gives you both breadth and depth in learning and experiences. Combine Baker & Konditor with another course for a full of years.
Community in the kitchen
In the kitchen, we build a communities that cheer for each other and taste our way to the best results, and this environment makes the learning experience richer. You become part of a team that shares both effort and joy.
Creative design projects
You get challenges that allow you to test your own ideas through creative projects, and learn how to combine taste, form and expression. Production that gives you proud ownership of your own creations.
Heavenly yeast baking
You get to work with yeast baking that fills the kitchen with fragrance, from bowls to focaccia, and experiences how process and collaboration create great results. The technique gives you both insight into dough work and enjoyment in togetherness.
Marzipan and chocolate
The course subject includes work with marzipan and chocolate, in which you play with technique that lifts the backstone from “good” to “wow”. You get to taste success and learn how details make the difference.
Practical teaching and lifelong craftsmanship
Teaching gives you hands-on training, and you learn a craft that you can use all your life — whether you want to work on baking or shine at home. You get the tools to create quality and taste.
Real-life baking
You bake cakes for the school's own events, so here you get real mission, not just exercises. That means you see how subject passion meets expectation in practice.
Study trip to Brussels
The trip goes to Brussels — the capital of chocolate, where you experience flavors, courses and real Belgian cocoa magic. Here you will gain insight into an international chocolate culture and learn new techniques from professionals.
Study trip to Paris
Journey to Paris — confectioners mecca includes culinary city walking with macaroons, croissants and French classics straight from the source. You embrace the city's style, taste and pastry arts.

At Karmøy Folkehøgskule you get a very special school year where you choose two of our 20 lines — and follows both throughout the year. This gives you over 190 possible line combinations, so you can create a year that suits exactly your interests.
You have approximately 40 line days on every line. The rest of the time is filled with common subjects, electives and theme days that provide variety and community in everyday life.
