Support from Lånekassen
For the 2025/2026 school year you can get up to NOK 151 690, - in loans and grants from Lånekassen. Of this, 40% can be converted to grants if you complete the school year. This applies to all folk high school in Norway, and you can easily apply via lanekassen.no. This applies only to Norwegian students.
In addition, some municipalities and counties may offer their own grants for students at folk high schools — feel free to check local opportunities where you live.

At Karmøy Folk High School you can choose from most double rooms with private bathroom. We also have some single rooms, these are given priority to those who for various reasons have to live alone. Single rooms are without private bathroom (deduction NOK 2000, - for rooms without private bathroom). The price of the stay includes all meals that are served at the school.
Teaching materials
Teaching materials include various materials, concerts, theatre, minor field trips, activities, semester fees, school photos, student cards, etc.
Supplementary Expenditure
Exchange rates and ticket prices
Reservations are made on adjustment of costs related to the study trips by major changes in exchange rates and ticket prices.
Vaccines
Vaccines for some journeys, the cost depends on which vaccines one has from before.
Special diet
Additional costs for special diets (allergies/diets) by agreement and scope.
Single-room addition
Kr. 600-1 200,- per month, depending on room type.
Electives
A few electives have a small additional cost, info on this is provided before choosing an elective.
Meals on trips abroad
Certain meals can be added on trips abroad (most are included).
Outdoor Activities Sea
Diving Courses Croatia kr. 2 500,-.
Action Adventure
Parachute jump (optional) kr. 4 500,-.
Fashion Clothes Design/Redesign
Purchase of materials in Paris and London are not included in the price.
