On Discover Africa — Tanzania with safari you get a school year filled with adventure, culture and real encounters with people. You will experience Tanzania at close up, participates in aid project in a local school, and ends the journey with chalk white beaches of Zanzibar. Here learning is combined, solidarity and joy of life In one of the most diverse countries in the world.

What do you get?
Adventures and experiences
Join us for tours and activities that leave a trail — from local markets to village visits and small expeditions. You learn to Observe, document and communicate own experiences in a personal way.
Drum and dance classes
Know the rhythm and learn dance as taught in Africa with the body, not just with the head. Drumming and dancing are an important part of the community, providing you energy, joy and true sense of mastery.
East African cooking
Learn to create traditional Tanzanian dishes, and savor your way through a new cuisine. You learn to eating with your fingers, share the meal and experience how food brings people together.
Encounter with nature
Tanzania bids unique animal and plant life. You will learn about nature conservation, sustainability and how local people live close to nature.
Human rights and refugee crises
We look at Topics in Africa and the World, and discusses how human rights and politics affect the lives of individuals. You get a Globally and locally perspective on the challenges — and what solidarity means in practice.
Language and communication
Teach you simple swahili and use it in meetings with people you meet. A smile and a few words in the local language open doors and create real contact.
Meet the Masai people
Visits Local communities of the Masai and get an honest insight into their lives, traditions and values. You get to experience a culture that lives close to nature and still carries on strong community traditions.
Safari on the savannah
Experience Serengeti and Ngorongoro — world-famous national parks with lions, elephants, zebras and giraffes. You get to see nature and wildlife up close, accompanied by local guides who share their knowledge of the ecosystem.
School project in Tanzania
Collaboration with a local school and participate in projects that provide direct value to the local community. Here you get to experience what is real assistance and cooperation means in practice.
Zanzibar and dolphin watching
Experience chalk white beaches, coral reefs and tropical fish — and join dolphin watching and snorkeling in crystal clear water. Here you get both adventure and relaxation in one of the world's most beautiful tropical paradises.

At Karmøy Folkehøgskule you get a very special school year where you choose two of our 20 lines — and follows both throughout the year. This gives you over 190 possible line combinations, so you can create a year that suits exactly your interests.
You have approximately 40 line days on every line. The rest of the time is filled with common subjects, electives and theme days that provide variety and community in everyday life.
