Variation in practice
The teaching is versatile and engaging. You combine two main courses of common subjects, electives and activity days — and get a year filled with learning, mastery and new perspectives.
Learning through action
With us, you learn to look beyond yourself. All courses at Karmøy FHS have an element of community engagement - some support aid projects and visits them on the course trip, while others engage locally.
As a community, we participate in TV-aksjonen and Stafett for livet (Kreftforeningen), where all students contribute to a greater cause. Through such projects, you discover how much small actions can mean — and how you can use your commitment to make a difference.
A greener folk high school life
We believe sustainability starts in everyday life. Therefore, we have made a number of environmental measures at school - like solar panels, energy conservation, source sorting, and beach cleanup.
We want to inspire our students to make good choices for yourself and for the environment. Through hands-on projects and joint activities, you'll learn how small actions can make a big difference — and how you can live a little greener, every day.

Over 150 years of community and change
Karmøy Folk High School has roots going back to 1876 and has had permanent restraining order on Eide in Kopervik since 1906. The first school building, the Old Building, still stands as a symbol of tradition and community.
Over the years, the school has evolved in step with the community — from being called Utgarn Folk High School between 1960 and 1997, to bearing the name Karmøy Folk High School
Today we combine over a hundred years of experience with modern teaching and a unique concept in which all students choose two main lines. This gives freedom, variety and community — values that have been central since the beginning.
The student team keeps the story alive throughout annual student meetings and strong ties between former pupils and staff.
