Tanzania or Brazil & Argentina
In the course Retake subjects — Tanzania or Brazil & Argentina you will have the opportunity to improve grades from high school at the same time as experiencing folk high school life and an international study trip. You choose between two tour destinations, Tanzania or Brazil & Argentina, and have dedicated course days with a mentor to help you in your study work.

What do you get?
Community and course life
In addition to the course, you will participate in community college life with community, friends and experiences — here you meet people with different interests, but a common motivation. You become part of an inclusive environment.
Exams and preparation
The focus is on exam situation and requirements for answering, and you get to practice tasks to become confident before the actual test. This gives you real preparation and support all the way.
Follow-up and group dynamics
You get follow-up individually and optionally in groups and regularly work on both intermediate and main objectives in the subject. Reflection on your own work and regular rehearsals make you better prepared for the exam.
Optional study trip to Brazil & Argentina
The second option is trip to Brazil and Argentina, where you will meet The urban pulse of Rio and Buenos Aires, experiencing rainforest and nature at the world's spectacular Iguazú Waterfalls, and visiting organizations and communities.
Optional study trip to Tanzania
An option is a study trip to Tanzania, with safari in Ngorongoro Crater or Mkomazi National Park, snorkeling on Zanzibar and contribution to school project. Here you combine solid professional work with experiences in nature and culture.
Possibilities after the year
After this year, you have improved academic results, experience of travel and fellowship, and stands better equipped for study or work. You get both expertise and perspective richer.
Study techniques and mapping
The course gives you an introduction to various study techniques and help figure out what works best for you. You create an annual plan and concrete work plan together with your mentor to achieve your academic goals.

Remember that at Karmøy Folk High School you choose two courses that you have throughout the year, and this gives you both breadth and variety of learning and experiences.
Use of digital tools
It includes work with online teaching and the use of AI as an aid in task writing. You learn modern methods that make you equipped for the exam situation.

You have approximately 40 line days on every line. The rest of the time is filled with common subjects, electives and theme days that provide variety and community in everyday life.
